Time Transfer Program

What is Time Transfer?
With the City’s new Time Transfer program, drivers using the Park Evanston mobile app can move their vehicle to another zone without having to complete a new transaction, as long as they have time remaining on their session and zone rates are the same.

How is Time Transfer enforced?
When you purchase a parking session through the Park Evanston app, parking enforcement officers will be able to see how much time you have remaining in your session.

Can I use Time Transfer when paying at a pay station?
No. The Time Transfer feature is exclusive to the Park Evanston app at this time.

Can I transfer my time to any parking zone?
Your time automatically transfers to any zone with the same hourly rate (including City Lots). For example, in a standard zone where the cost is $2.00 per hour, you can move your vehicle to another zone with the same rate (even if the maximum time limit in the zone is different).

The same applies if you park in a long-term zone at a rate of $0.50 per hour; you can continue using that time in other long-term zones.

You can also move from a City parking lot to an on-street space or vice versa, as long as the rate is the same.

Short-term (15-minute) zones cannot be transferred to any other zone.

Time also cannot be transferred to, or from, any of the City parking garages.

Does my time pause while I’m moving my vehicle?

No. If you pay for two hours of parking in a $2.00 per hour zone, the clock counts down from two hours immediately after initial payment. If you start a parking session at 11 a.m. and pay for two hours of parking, you can move to other $2.00 per hour zones until your time is exhausted at 1 p.m.

You can extend your session, but maximum time limits for parking on an individual block will still be enforced.
