EVERETT — Police closed I-5 south Wednesday morning near Marine View Drive due to a suspected road rage shooting that left no one injured, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Around 10:37 a.m., suspects in a red Chevy Camaro shot the rear passenger tire of a Lexus SUV multiple times, according to the state patrol.
It was unclear what exactly precipitated the shooting. In a press release, the state patrol described it as a “road rage/shooting incident.” For hours, state patrol only described the shooting as an “incident” and declined to elaborate. Troopers sent out the press release describing the incident just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Police closed southbound I-5 just north of the 41st Street off-ramp.
Freeway cameras showed several troopers walking on the closed freeway.

On Wednesday afternoon, investigators continued searching for the occupants of the Camaro, which they said had a tinted rear license plate cover. Troopers described the driver as a male with facial hair. He reportedly had a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.
Troopers asked anyone with information about the shooting or video of the Camaro to call detective Josh Lancaster at 360-757-2008 or email him at joshua.lancaster@wsp.wa.gov.
