Priority question for written answer P-000213/2021
to the Commission
Rule 138
Stefania Zambelli (ID)
In February 2016, the Commission launched a pilot project for the mutual recognition of disability status between Member States, through the use of an EU Disability Card. The Commission’s intention was to ensure equal treatment and equal access to all services for people with disabilities over and beyond national borders, with particular reference to transport, leisure, culture and sport.
Eight Member States, including Italy, participated in this pilot project. In 2019, the Commission started the assessment process for the initiative. However, the results of that assessment are not yet available.
In the light of the above, can the Commission answer the following questions:
- 1.When will the results of the assessment study launched by the Commission in 2019 be published?
- 2.Are there any preliminary data already available on the effectiveness and practical use of the European Disability Card?
- 3.Will the Commission include the other Member States after this trial period, in order to extend the recognition of disability status to all EU Member States?
