Tune in to watch the latest episode of “Stop the Stigma” featuring Toni Cornell and Jim Carroll, the Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.

In the episode, Director Carroll discusses the agency’s role in addressing the stigma surrounding substance use disorders, ONDCP work impacting criminal justice reform, private sector partnerships, and eliminating stigma in health care, along with current efforts to support individuals and families experiencing the added emotional stresses associated with the COVID pandemic.

Director Carroll shares his thoughts: "The last thing we should do is to try and pass moral judgment on [people who struggle with SUD]. We have to think of this as the disease that we know it is."

"We know that addiction is a chronic and progressive illness that impacts Americans from all walks of life, all races, all faiths, yet the shame and stigma of addiction too often prevents those who struggle with substance use disorders from getting help," shares Toni Cornell.

The Addiction Policy Forum together with Toni and Christopher Cornell have launched a nationwide campaign entitled “Stop the Stigma: Tackling the Stigma of Addiction through Education.”
