The report, which covers the period from Oct. 1, 2023 through Sept. 30, 2024, details the state agency's efforts on behalf of the state's more than 516,000 veterans and their families. The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency serves as the central coordinating point, connecting those who have served in the United States Armed Forces and their families to services and benefits throughout the state of Michigan. MVAA is responsible for administration and operation of the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund, Michigan’s state veterans homes, constituent service or referral and the state's grant to chartered veterans service organizations and the Michigan Association of County Veterans Counselors. MVAA's Homeless Veteran Coordinator, Cassie Smith, and Employment Analyst, Erik Schreur, had the honor of visiting Perrin Sportswear in Grand Rapids, an MVAA Bronze Veteran-Friendly Employer, to accept ten large boxes of donated clothing. The donations were then brought to SHero's Corner for homeless and underserved veterans of West Michigan.

Veterans with Parkinson's Support Group, presented by the Michigan Parkinson Foundation (MPF), is held every third Thursday of the month at the American Legion Post 351 in Utica beginning at 2 p.m. The next monthly meeting will be on March 20th. Monthly meetings feature guest speakers and provide a safe space to seek support and build connections within your community. Brig. Gen. Charles McGee, a Tuskegee Airman, was honored by NASA in 2020 for his service in three wars: World War II, Korea and Vietnam. McGee flew 409 combat missions during his more than 30-year military career, one of the highest combat totals in United States Air Force history. He received both the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star. McGee passed away in 2022 at the age of 102. #BlackHistoryMonth
