GRAYSLAKE, IL — The village of Grayslake recently earned the highly coveted SolSmart Bronze designation. Funded by the United States Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative, SolSmart recognizes local governments who take steps to reduce barriers to solar energy growth and makes it easier for homes and businesses to go solar, according to a news release from the village of Grayslake.

“We continue our sustainability efforts as included in our plan. This SolSmart designation is the latest example of Grayslake being recognized for its sustainability efforts," Grayslake Mayor Rhett Taylor said in a statement.

Grayslake received this designation by creating an online checklist that provides residents with the resources they need when completing a solar project, conducting an internal review of permitting processes and examining fees related to solar installations, according to a news releaser from the village.
