The Levy Senior Center Foundation is proud to bring the talents of young, award-winning classical musicians to the Levy Senior Center. The concerts are held in the Maple Room, and are free and open to all. 

The series honors the memory of Fran Randall who loved classical music and played an important role in opening the current center.

Grace Ryan and Bianca Ciubancan

Join us Friday, May 24 at 1:30pm in the Maple Room for a Fran Randall classical concert with gifted young performers.

“Captivating with [her] vocal power and lush sound” (RoundTable), Grace Ryan is an award-winning mezzo soprano finishing her degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Education from DePaul University School of Music. She has performed in the Midwest and with the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company.

Currently a collaborative pianist at North Park and DePaul Universities, Jennifer McCabe has been described as “the new Gerald Moore” and “an infinitely sympathetic pianist.” She has performed with organizations such as The Kennedy Center, the CSO and Lyric Opera.

Also performing is violinist Bianca Ciubancan. She's taken top prizes at numerous competitions, and has studied in masterclasses with a number of accomplished violinists. Bianca is concertmaster of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, and is a senior at Northside College Prep. She'll perform with piano accompaniment.

Jamming Jean concerts

The Jamming Jean Music Series, named in honor of a former Levy Center member, features music and musicians that reflect Evanston and its cultural diversity. 

These Friday night concerts are free and open to all. Bring the entire family for a fun way to kick off the weekend! Concerts are held in the Maple Room in March and December, and right outside the Center in James Park in June and September.

Midnight Sun

Join us Friday, June 14, 5 to 7 pm, for a summer Jamming Jean concert with Chicago's iconic Midnight Sun, a musical powerhouse renowned for their remarkable precision and dedication to delivering the finest Funk and R&B tunes. Since their inception in 1976, they've become a cherished institution in the Chicago music scene.

 

With a dynamic rhythm section and incredibly versatile vocalists, Midnight Sun transports audiences through decades of soulful sounds, from the golden hits of the '60s to contemporary favorites. Their mastery extends beyond the hits; they effortlessly recreate even the most obscure B-sides with an encyclopedic knowledge of soul music.

 

Whether commanding the stage with their electrifying performances or customizing sets to meet audience requests, Midnight Sun  captivates audiences of all tastes and generations.

 

The free concert takes place in James Park outside the Levy Senior Center. Enjoy dinner from the Azteca Cocina food truck, and be sure to bring a lawn chair for maximum comfort.
