Join Placer Land Trust for an Invasive Broom Removal Day!

Date/Time:  Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Location: Canyon View Preserve – learn more about the preserve here

About this event: We’re doing it again! Placer Land Trust needs help removing an aggressive invader from Canyon View Preserve! Brooms (French, Scotch, Spanish, etc.) are a group of shrubs native to parts of Africa and Europe and have been spreading rapidly throughout many parts of the U.S. They are such successful invasive species not only because they grow rapidly, but each plant can also produce thousands of seeds that remain viable in the soil for many years. In addition to out-competing other native plant species, broom is also highly flammable, greatly increasing the risk of spreading a wildfire.

We will be removing the broom by pulling by hand or with tools, and by cutting.  We’d love your help, so please sign up! The activities are best suited for adults and youth ages 10 and up. Any minor must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

More details, directions to the Preserve, and a list of what to bring will be emailed after registration. Check your spam folder if you do not receive the email within 15 minutes of registering.

Please print and sign the liability waiver located here and bring it with you. One form per household. Children under 18 need a parent’s signature.

If you have any questions please contact Gary Wells by email or by phone at 530-887-9222 x 114.
