When is the training?

The Peer Linkage and Re-engagement of Women of Color with HIV training is a multi-day virtual training. The training will occur on November 16, and 17 2020. On each day, the training will run from 11:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  All Training Activities will be Conducted via Zoom.

Why should I attend this training?

To end the HIV epidemic, stakeholders throughout the country will need to employ effective, evidence-informed approaches to improve health outcomes across the HIV care continuum. The Peer Linkage and Re-Engagement intervention is an evidence-informed intervention that was replicated within three Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP)-funded organizations across the country through the Dissemination of Evidence-Informed Interventions initiative (DEII), a multi-year project funded by the Health Resources and Services (HRSA), HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB), Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS).

Peers are people with HIV who support others with HIV, often through a similar lived experience. Integrating peers into clinics’ multi-disciplinary team can help remove client barriers and improve access to HIV primary care and support services. This training will be an interactive, skills-building, and tailored for direct service and administrative staff who seek to implement a new or strengthen their existing peer program. The training seeks to achieve the following goals:

  1. Define the core competencies of Peer Linkage and Re-Engagement Intervention
  2. Apply core competencies to case examples to build confidence in application of skills commonly employed by peers
  3. Identify resources that can support peers in working with clients and support clinics in integrating peers as part of the HIV care team.
  4. Plan for how training participants will implement the Peer Linkage and Re-Engagement Intervention or components of the intervention in their organization/jurisdiction

To achieve these goals, facilitators will share evidence-informed models and free tools that can be incorporated into ending the HIV epidemic plans or other work to improve outcomes across the HIV care continuum at a local level. Click here to review a draft agenda for the training.

People living with HIV who are interested in or already serving their communities as CHW/peer/navigator are strongly encouraged to apply.
