Kelly Buckland grew up on a potato farm and cattle ranch in eastern Idaho. He rode horses, fixed fences and branded cattle, a young cowboy like his father.

Then, at age 16, he broke his neck diving into the Snake River in Idaho Falls, leaving him in a wheelchair for more than half-a-century.
