Sheffield moves to Tier 3 'Very High' in fight against COVID

From today (Saturday 24 October) Sheffield, along with Doncaster, Barnsley and Rotherham move from Tier 2 into Tier 3, the ‘Very High’ alert category. Find out more about the new restrictions and what this means for Sheffield.

Self-isolation financial support

If you are on a low income and will lose income because you are self-isolating you can apply for a payment of £500. To claim, you must be employed or self-employed and unable to work from home.

What to do if you have signs or symptoms

If you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), you must self-isolate and get a test as soon as possible.

There are now 5 testing centres in Sheffield at the following locations:

  • Local Testing Site at Sharrow
  • Local Testing Site at Darnall
  • Regional Testing Site at Meadowhall
  • The Mobile Testing Unit based at Olympic Legacy Park has relocated to Milton Street Car Park in Broomhall.
  • Local Testing Site at Burngreave

You should only book a test if you have symptoms of Covid-19. Tests must be pre-booked and can only be booked via the national NHS portal online nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119. Stay at home and continue to self-isolate until you get your test results - only leave home to have a test.

From Monday 26 October, Ponds Forge and Heeley Pool and Gym will re-open to the public, with new Tier 3 restrictions in place. Across the city many of our public sports and leisure facilities are ready to welcome you with Covid secure measures in place.
