Despite tremendous scientific progress that has led to significant breakthroughs in medicine, the U.S. is experiencing an overall decline in life expectancy. To tackle this, The National Institutes of Health (NIH) held listening sessions with a number of communities to inform plans to integrate clinical research into routine care, aiming to broaden research participation and promote health equity. Join a virtual half-day workshop on Friday, June 7, titled "Enhancing Access to Clinical Research Through Primary Care Research Hubs," for: 📌 a summary of the findings from listening sessions 📌 a sneak peek at future NIH initiatives and 📌 a statement from NIH Director Dr. Monica Bertagnolli about how future NIH initiatives will benefit the health of all Americans. We’re recognizing researchers who are pursuing health equity by working with communities. We spoke with Dr. Sunmin Lee, Professor of Medicine at UC Irvine. In the conversation, she discussed two of her research projects, one aimed at improving colorectal cancer screening among Chinese and Korean primary care patients and one focused on stressors, sleep, and cardiometabolic health, such as risk factors for diabetes, heart disease, and obesity, among Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese American populations.
