Crime wave of stolen cars used in smash-n-grab robberies is news to Seattle City Councilmember

Smash and grab stolen car drives into Seattle business in robbery attempt

Seattle City Councilmember, Tammy Morales (2nd District-Chinatown International District, Beacon Hill and Rainier Valley), admitted to news reporters yesterday that she was unaware that stolen cars like some makes and models of Kia and Hyundai with compromised ignition parts are frequently used in smash and grab robberies of pot shops and stores around Puget Sound.

Morales made the admission at a press conference she called with Seattle news reporters to demand accountability from Kia and Hyundai for selling cars that didn’t have theft prevention ignition technology.

KVI’s John Carlson reviewed these comments by Morales with his interview guest, host of the un-Divided Podcast, Brandi Kruse. To hear the interview with Kruse and Carlson, click the play button below.

Kruse and Carlson also discussed the status of six Washington statewide initiatives that voters will decide on for the November 5, 2024 general election. The initiatives deal with an array of subjects including the price of gasoline and natural gas for home heating, the mandated Long Term Care payroll tax, and the criteria by which police can pursue criminal suspects in vehicles.
