Treaty infringement in connection with the EU telecom rules

On 4 February 2021, the Commission opened infringement procedures against 24 of the 27 Member States in connection with the new EU telecom rules[1]. To date, non-transposition has prompted the issuing of a letter of formal notice with a two-month grace period.

• 1.Was the time frame for transposing the directive too tight?
• 2.Were the measures required too complex to be transposed in two years?
• 3.What action will be taken against Member States which fail to transpose the directive?
