The state Supreme Court, which convenes at the Temple of Justice in Olympia, will takes the next steps in deciding political redistricting in Washington. A commission tasked with doing so failed to meet the deadline.

The task of redrawing Washington's congressional and legislative districts is now in the hands of the state Supreme Court. But how did that happen? The chair of the commission that missed the deadline — sending the map duty to the court — sent an explanation to the justices Monday.
