🔥Extreme heat waves in the US 🔥 this summer have killed 💀 hundreds of people, with many 👫 without access to 🆒 air conditioning 🔥. July was the hottest month on record 🌡️, and the heat is not over yet as states like Kentucky 🗽 and Texas 🤠 prepare for more dangerously hot days🔥. Many are dying 💀 because they lack access to air conditioning🔥. At least 147 people from just five counties in the United States have died from extreme heat so far in 2023 😱, with many deaths still under investigation 🔎. Many of these deaths are the result of a lack of access to air conditioning🔥. Construction workers face significant risks from heat-related deaths 💀, with 285 deaths between 1992 and 2016 📅, accounting for over a third of all U.S. occupational deaths from heat exposure 🔥. Non-fatal injuries (HRIs) are more common and may not be captured in surveillance data 📊. So far 113 workers have died at work this year! There is only one word for this … unacceptable! 😒 Everyone needs to make workers mental and physical health and safety a priority now! The safety around this industry has come along way with the help of regulated organizations like OSHA and SCSA, but we still need to remember the lives lost who have made it possible to learn from our mistakes. Made it possible to have developed the processes, procedures, and controls to keep current and future generations safe within this and other industries. We cannot forget their sacrifices. We must continue to find effective ways to keep our friends, family and co-workers safe.
