County marks vaccine milestones

This week, we surpassed 100,000 vaccine doses administered to Placer County residents — the highest rate per capita in the region — and today surpassed 30,000 doses administered specifically at the county's clinic @the Grounds. Health and Human Services would like to thank the partners who have helped make this effort possible. For updates on vaccination progress and appointments, text PLACERVACCINE to the number 898211. Become a grand jury volunteer for Placer Superior Court!

The Placer Superior Court is looking for applicants to serve a one-year term on the 2021-2022 grand jury. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of Placer County for a year prior to becoming a grand juror. Learn more

Placer is now asking individuals with knowledge of the unique housing needs within our county to apply to be a part of a new affordable housing taskforce. The committee will help identify and advise on potential affordable housing developments in Placer.

The Placer County Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program offers free tax prep help to qualifying individuals and families. Last year, the VITA program netted Placer County residents close to $447,000 in returns. Make sure to maximize the money going back in your pocket by seeing if you qualify for this free assistance. Defensible space

Research has shown residents often aren’t sure how insurance companies rate their properties for wildfire risk. California's insurance commissioner has proposed new rules that would give property owners access to this information. The first virtual public meeting on the proposed policy changes will be held March 30.
