As we head into what looks like a beautiful weekend, consider taking the time to give your home a wildfire preparedness makeover. We have many options to support defensible space work and property clearing such as our low-cost chipper program, green waste programs and burn pile guidelines.


Investing in recreation + transportation in North Lake Tahoe with lodging tax dollars

The Resort Triangle trail network, Martis Valley Trail, the Van Norden Meadow Restoration and Recreation Project and a scenic overlook were among 12 projects approved by our Board of Supervisors this week, funded by lodging taxes paid by visitors to support community priorities in eastern Placer County. Placer takes steps to limit short-term rentals in North Lake Tahoe

Our Board of Supervisors this week moved closer to limiting the number of short-term rental permits in the tourism-focused region of North Lake Tahoe, one of several proposed refinements to our short-term rental ordinance aimed at addressing community concerns and preserving workforce housing availability. To preserve critical infrastructure that serves all, including hospitals, on Jan. 4, Placer County Public Health extended its health warning advising residents regardless of vaccination status to use high-quality masks in indoor public settings to protect against the Delta and Omicron variants.
