to the Commission
Rule 138
Paolo Borchia (ID)
According to the Farm 2 Fork Strategy (COM52020)0381) published on the 20 May 2020, the Commission will develop an EU code of conduct for responsible business and marketing practices, which will also be accompanied by a monitoring framework. Furthermore, the code will be developed with the input of all relevant stakeholders.
Work on the code started at a ‘High Level Stakeholder Event’ organised by Executive First Vice-President Frans Timmermans and Commissioner Stella Kyriakides on 26 January 2021. A Commission press release stated that the aforementioned event ‘lays a building block in the path forward achieving the ambitious and important goals of the Strategy’.
Commission officials stated further that ‘the work on the code of conduct is a political priority’, while ‘the code will be a flagship for the United Nations Food Systems Summit’. In view of the above:
- 1.Do the Better Regulation Guidelines fully apply to action 14 of the F2F Strategy?
- 2.When and to what extent will Parliament be involved in the ‘political priority’ action of the Strategy?
- 3.Under what legal framework did the Commission set up the ‘General Stakeholder Meeting’ and the ‘Task Force Thematic Sessions’?
