Parks and Trails Master Plan virtual town hall Jan. 27

Tahoe Bike Path

Community members are invited to attend a virtual town hall meeting for the first-ever countywide Parks and Trails Master Plan final draft. The virtual town hall will offer a presentation on major plan elements and changes since the May 2021 draft followed by a time for public comment. Community members can attend the virtual meeting online on Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. Learn more


Free COVID boosters and testing in Roseville & Truckee

COVID Test information

Free COVID-19 boosters and vaccines are available throughout Placer, including at our community clinic in Roseville. Schedule an appointment today at MyTurn.ca.gov to protect yourself against COVID variants. Walk-in appointments welcome.

Free COVID-19 testing is also available weekdays, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., in Roseville at the Maidu Activity Center at 1960 Johnson Ranch Drive and in Truckee at the Old Gateway Center at 10990 Donner Pass Road (closed Dec. 31). Appointments can be scheduled online at https://lhi.care/start. Walk-in appointments welcome. Test results should be available within 48 hours. Rapid testing is not available at these testing sites at this time. Schedule appointment

Build an accessory home in the basin!

ADU Tahoe

Recent ordinance changes in the Tahoe Basin have made building accessory homes easier than ever. Tahoe Regional Planning Agency has reduced restrictions on accessory homes (also called ADUs or granny units) to better align with state guidance. 🐐 Goat grazing project in Auburn helps county address wildfire risk 🐐

Goat grazing

The Bureau of Reclamation has started working at the Auburn State Recreation Area on a 176-acre goat grazing project. The project will graze goats in the Auburn shaded fuel break for three months to decrease fire risks on woodlands adjacent to the City of Auburn. Who doesn’t love goats and fire preparedness? Short-term rental ordinance vote set for Jan. 25

The Placer County Board of Supervisors will be asked to consider an update to the Placer County code which regulates short-term vacation rentals in Eastern Placer County at the Jan. 25 board meeting. The board meeting will be held in North Lake Tahoe. View the agenda item and learn more about the last public discussion leading to the update. Learn more

To preserve critical infrastructure that serves all, including hospitals, on Jan. 4, Placer County Public Health extended its health warning advising residents regardless of vaccination status to use high-quality masks in indoor public settings to protect against the Delta and Omicron variants.
