“As a city filled with innovators we’re committed to driving prosperity, this latest announcement from the University of Sheffield is yet another example of our forward-thinking approach. “The new multi-million pound investment brings with it new jobs as well as advances in technology which could power millions homes for decades to come.” Cllr Martin Smith, Chair of the Economic Development and Skills Committee
We’re partnering with Rolls-Royce SMR to set up a major new manufacturing facility in South Yorkshire. Based at our AMRC's Factory 2050, the new facility will manufacture and test prototype modules for small modular reactors (SMRs). SMRs are a clean energy solution that could provide enough low-carbon electricity to power a million homes for more than 60 years. https://lnkd.in/eKqXNGJA

Around 50 people took to the streets of Sheffield to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone that works tirelessly across the city as a foster carer to look after vulnerable youngsters. The Council’s foster care teams organised the Foster Care Walk. The event was organised to say a big ‘thank you’ to those who open up their homes to a youngster who needs their help, while also encouraging those who may have been considering becoming a Sheffield Foster Carer to find out how. You can read more about the walk at our website: https://lnkd.in/enyPchgN
