Sophisticated health care technology allows VA to provide the best care possible to the nation’s Veterans — and it wouldn’t be possible without the healthcare technology management (HTM) professionals who work at VA.
This HTM Week, May 17-23, 2020, we’d like to thank these important members of our health care team.
“Though your work is often behind the scenes, your support and dedication is essential. You advance and maintain the technological resources that our heroes count on to feel better, faster,” said Darren Sherrard, associate director of recruitment marketing at VA.
As patient care becomes more sophisticated and advanced, professionals in this growing field calibrate machines, train clinical staff, make sure computer networks stay on during a natural disaster and much more.
Are you an HTM-trained professional interested in pursuing a career at VA? Open positions include:
- Supervisory biomedical engineer: advises senior clinical and leadership staff on medical technology, including existing and emerging technology, addressing viability, long-term suitability, compatibility and/or safety.
- Biomedical engineer: assists the clinical staff in selection, deployment and use of medical equipment.
- Biomedical equipment support specialist: makes sure diagnostic, therapeutic devices, monitoring and other equipment work well in improving health service delivery systems for communities, VA facilities and Veteran patients.
- Administrative officer: oversees, coordinates and leads in improving the HTM service’s overall quality, safety and performance.
You’ll join an award-winning staff of professionals doing cutting-edge work in the medical technology field.
“We have a culture of innovation at VA. Our HTM professionals are encouraged to explore new technologies and solutions that generate better results for Veterans,” Sherrard said.
These positions are a perfect fit for transitioning military personnel with a background in biomedical engineering, as well as those with degrees in engineering, science, technology or other technical fields.
