Spokane police identify the 9 officers who shot, killed suicidal man on South Hill

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Police have identified the nine Spokane Police officers who shot at and killed a man on Cliff Drive on Jan. 31.

Preliminary information from the Spokane Police Department suggests they responded to a caller who received a suicide note and a threat from an unknown armed man in the area of 500 W. Cliff Ave. on the South Hill.

Police say they arrived to find the man armed with a firearm and asked him to drop it multiple times. On at least two occasions the man raised his handgun in the direction of officers, who fired back, eventually killing him.

On Thursday evening, Spokane Police identified Officer Michael Brunner, Officer William Braten, Officer Steven Donges, Officer Will Dowsing, Officer Trystan Herzog, Officer Ryan McLucas, Officer Dylan Pavlischak, Officer Andrew Wilson and Corporal Chris Johnson as the nine men who fired their weapons. All the men are currently on administrative leave.

The Spokane Independent Investigative Response (SIIR) team is handling their investigation and released their first update on Thursday.
