WALLA WALLA – The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission has approved $104,500 in grant funding to improve seven railroad crossings in Walla Walla County.

The grant will fund the replacement of train detection equipment in the county on Last Chance Road and Prospect Avenue; the crossings on Myra Road, Poplar, Rose, and Tietan streets in Walla Walla; and on Wallula Avenue in College Place.

The new train detection equipment will improve serviceability and reliability of the crossing system, thereby increasing safety for crossing users.
