Across the country, National Adoption Day is celebrated every Nov. 20, when adoptive families are recognized, celebrated and some foster families finalize the adoption process. What can we do about increasing natural disaster risks in Placer County? There’s a plan for that. From forest health to power shutoffs, to drought preparation, our updated Local Hazard Mitigation Plan, approved this week by our Board of Supervisors, looks at ways agencies throughout the county are making smart investments to reduce risk to lives and property and avoid even higher costs for disaster recovery.
