The OOI BGC Sensor Data Best Practices and User Guide is very well written and an extremely informative, in-depth document that will be of invaluable use to the ocean science community in general. The BGC Working Group did an excellent job compiling critical information, clearly described detailed analyses of sensor data, and provided helpful examples of sensor data showing offsets and corrections.

My primary comment is to be sure to include information on the shallow profiler and deep-profiler moorings located at the base of Axial Seamount in the text and in Table 1.1.

Specific comments:
Pg 18. P. 4: "converted into time in seconds since 1900-01-01, " I am not sure what 1900-01-01 refers to. Perhaps rewrite or explain what is meant here.

Pg. 23. P. 5. Add information and link for the Interactive Ocean Data Portal (https://app.interactiveoceans.washington.edu). It provides data from biogeochemical sensors on the Regional Cabled Array and is another way to access data.

Pg. 60. Line 3. "...rate of increase is relatively smooth." Do you mean relatively linear?

Table 4.1. Line 1. Change to, Buoy on coastal & global surface moorings.

Pg. 104, P. 2. "Turbidity commonly describes water clarity and is a gross assessment of light attenuation factors by suspended solids." What is meant by factors? Maybe drop this word?

Pg. 110. Last P. Consider adding " Fluorescence may be higher in deeper waters due to higher chloroplasts per cell and may not necessarily be interpreted as a higher number of phytoplankton cells."

Pg. 114. "Flat line test: The flat line test should be applied to raw (count) data rather than calibrated data. The test is expected to catch issues with sensor performance. It is applicable to all data types (fluorescence and backscatter) and should be used on fixed-depth as well as profiling sensor data. It can be run on the calibrated L1 or uncalibrated L0 data." The first and last sentences appear to contradict each other.

Throughout the document, change text to "data are" and "these data". The word "data" is plural. Datum is singular. No one seems to know Latin any more and even dictionaries have given up and now accept "data is". However, we are scientists - it is nice to be correct to the extent possible!
