Purpose

Social and Economic Development Strategies for Alaska (SEDS-AK) provides support for village-specific projects to improve and strengthen the administrative and management capacity of Alaska Native tribal governments, which are central to social and economic self-sufficiency in Alaska.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include:

  • Federally recognized tribes in Alaska
  • Alaska Native villages
  • Nonprofit village consortia
  • Nonprofit native organizations in Alaska with village-specific projects
  • Incorporated nonprofit, multi-purpose, community-based Indian organizations
  • Urban Indian centers
  • Native Community Development Financial Institutions (Native CDFIs)
  • Incorporated nonprofit Alaska Native multipurpose, community-based organizations
  • Nonprofit Alaska Native regional corporations and/or associations in Alaska with village-specific projects
  • Nonprofit Alaska Native community entities or tribal governing bodies
  • Faith-based and community organizations in Alaska that meet the eligibility requirements

Amount of funding

Award ceiling: $300,000 per year
Award floor: $100,000 per year
Project period: Project periods can be 12, 24, or 36 months
Expected number of awards: 2
Estimated total program funding: $1,000,000

Grantees are required to match at least 20% of the total approved cost with cash and/or in-kind resources. Applicants may request a waiver of the match requirement by providing ANA with written documentation of need.
