NORTH CASCADES, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Heads up if you are about to head out on a camping excursion.
The National Parks Service has issued a campfire ban for the North Cascades National Park beginning this Friday, July 12.
That includes any type of fire pit or BBQ grill burning, including the use of firewood or briquettes.
The advisory also extends to the Ross Lake and Lake Chelan Recreational areas, campgrounds along Highway 20, and all of Stehekin Valley.
Warm summer temperatures and dry conditions spurred the NPS to issue the ban to prevent more human-caused wildfires.
Cooking or using liquid petroleum stoves or grills are still allowed.
