Washington Governor Inslee to sign executive order to reduce recidivism

A new date for the signing is TBA, according to Inslee's team.

This executive order is part of the national initiative Reentry 2030, which has the goal of reducing recidivism "by removing barriers to employment, housing and other services for individuals leaving prison," according to a news release sent by Governor Inslee's office.

Washington was the second state to commit to Reentry 2030 last year. Inslee signed an executive order and legislation in 206 and 2017 respectively with the goal of enhancing restorative justice programming.

The order Inslee is signing will have nine state agencies with the goal of working together to improve conditions for successfully reentering after imprisonment. These agencies will work to improve access to behavioral health supports, vocational training, identification, housing, nutrition, and health coverage.
