About the Symposium

On behalf of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), it is my pleasure to announce the 14th Asia-Oceania Group on Earth Observations (AOGEO) Symposium to be held virtually from 10 to 12 November 2021. The Symposium is being organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan (MEXT) with support from the GEO Secretariat.

“Envisioning AOGEO in 2022 and beyond”

Topics of Discussion
Each thematic Task Group will share the achievements and discuss the next implementation plans for 2022 and beyond, in addition to following special sessions which highlight essential challenges and opportunities at regional and global scale:

  • Special Session 1: Biodiversity for Addressing Climate Change & Disaster Risk Reduction
  • Special Session 2: Satellite data for the Pacific Islands: Supplier and User perspectives
  • Special Session 3: Earth Observation for Climate Change

AOGEO is a Regional Group on Earth Observations (Regional GEO) which envisions a future where decisions and actions for the benefit of people in the Asia-Oceania region are informed by coordinated, comprehensive and sustained Earth observations.

Unlocking Earth Observation data for South-East Asia with the Open Data Cube

Event Description
Virtual launch of the Earth Observation for Climate Smart Innovation (EOSCI) project. This project will deploy a new Earth observation analysis platform powered by CSIRO’s Earth Analytics Science and Innovation hub (EASI) based on Open Data Cube technology. The new platform will be used to engage local government, business and education institutions to take advantage of Earth observation for the development of climate smart applications in South East Asia. This event is held in association with the 14th Asia Oceania GEO symposium. The project is an Australian initiative in collaboration with regional partners.
