OLYMPIA  –  Clallam County has secured a $29,000 state grant to fund a workshop focused on coexisting with beavers.

The money comes from the Department of Ecology. The workshop will focus on educating both residents and landowners about the role beavers play in the local ecosystem.  Scheduled workshops will delve into various aspects of beaver behavior, their contributions to watershed health, and strategies for fostering a peaceful coexistence. A central tenet of the workshop will involve introducing nonlethal techniques for beaver management, veering away from conventional methods that entail harm or removal and instead look into practices aimed at mitigating potential conflicts between human activities and beaver habitats.

Dates and times for the workshop have been announced yet.
