Washington wolves

The number of wolves in Washington state continues to grow, according to the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Washington’s wolf population grew by a record 44 wolves in 2023, though wolves made no measurable progress in colonizing new areas.

The state Department of Fish and Wildlife and tribes counted 260 wolves at the end of the year, 20% more than the 216 wolves tallied in 2022, according to the department’s annual wolf report, released Saturday.
