Tacoma thrives together when we come together! Tacoma’s cultural sector embodies innovation and perseverance, and the Arts & Cultural Vitality Division is proud to support a growing and collaborative creative ecosystem. We work with creatives, organizations, and cultural partners to serve the evolving needs of our community through funding, public art, community programming, and professional development.
New research proves what we can see all around us - that investing in arts and culture has significant and measurable impacts on our community’s economic and social wellbeing. Our 2023 Annual Report illustrates the far-reaching impacts that our collective investments in the cultural sector have on our community.
You can read the full 2023 Annual Report in the link in our bio (Instagram) or here: tinyurl.com/ArtsAnnualReport2024
Thank you to the numerous individual creatives, organizations, cultural partners, panel members, staff, participants, volunteers, and attendees who help cultivate this thriving movement of arts and culture in Tacoma.

Are you interested in learning more about sustainability and how you can make a difference in the South Sound community?
Want to participate in a cool art project, trade plants, or swap craft supplies?
Look no further than the 16th Annual South Sound Sustainability Expo!
On Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the UW Tacoma Campus, meet local organizations, businesses, and government agencies dedicated to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices.
Learn more at southsoundsustainabilityexpo.org
You can also meet our Artist in Residence, Tamiko Nimura, who is debuting a project to collect all those lonely socks without a pair and reuse them for a really cool project ahead. Please bring a clean, dry children's individual sock (a lonely one without a match). You'll have the chance to hand dip them into liquid clay. These socks will later be incorporated into a larger project. Art can help keep garbage out of the waste stream, improve efficiency of our current services, and remind us of the things that matter! So cool!
