WALLA WALLA – Republican lawmakers from Washington’s 16th Legislative District have announced they secured $500,000 in the state operating budget to assist with the gasoline leak cleanup in downtown Walla Walla.

Last week, Rep. Skyler Rude and Rep. Mark Klicker, both from Walla Walla, along with Sen. Perry Dozier of Waitsburg, toured the Stillwater Holdings Chevron on Rose Street, along with the Marcus Whitman Hotel and Conference Center. They all got an up close look at the cleanup efforts following a gasoline leak that was discovered back in September.

According to Rude, contaminated groundwater is still being pumped out.
