The proposal to set up the AccessibleEU resource centre by 2022 falls short of what was called for by the European Parliament resolution and the European disability movement, that is the creation of an EU Agency for Accessibility, similar to the Access Board, the US federal agency. Accessibility is a technical issue that requires a high level of knowledge and resources when it comes to supporting the Union and the Member States in the implementation of accessibility in practice.

What does the Commission envisage for the AccessibleEU knowledge centre more specifically? And what means and resources will it be allocated to ensure its effectiveness?
