On 3 March 2021 the Commission presented the Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030. Recognition of a European Disability Card (EDC) by all Member States is one of the new strategy’s flagship initiatives. The current EU Disability Card is mainly used in the areas of culture and sport.

• 1.What measures is the Commission planning so as to make an EDC more widely known over the next few years?
• 2.An EDC has huge potential that extends beyond the current focus on sport and culture. Is the Commission planning initiatives to extend the scope of an EDC to other areas?
• 3.Not every disability is visible, which can sometimes make communicating with paramedics and emergency responders difficult. Does the Commission see scope for incorporating the EDC into the area of emergency services and safety?
