Planned Commission measures to reduce CO2 emissions in-house
15.4.2021
Question for written answer E-002042/2021
to the Commission
Rule 138
Sylvia Limmer (ID)
With the Green Deal action programme and the ‘Fit for 55’ legislative package due to be presented in June 2021, the Commission aims to compel all EU Member States to reduce their CO2 emissions by at least 55 % by 2030 compared to 1990. An authority that demands that 448 million citizens in the EU Member States meet such ambitious targets should, of course, lead by example.
- 1.What CO2 saving measures is the Commission pursuing in-house that are binding on the Commission and all staff, in particular with regard to missions, official cars, private jets[1], use of computers and smartphones, use of paper, etc.?
- 2.Does the Commission currently measure its CO2 emissions in the respective areas described, and if so, what does the existing or yet to be adopted emissions reduction plan – including measurability, monitoring and sanctioning of non-compliance by individual Commission staff or services – look like?
