European social security number
25.2.2021
Question for written answer E-001132/2021
to the Commission
Rule 138
Cindy Franssen (PPE)
A European social security number would be a major step forward in European social security coordination and in the fight against social dumping. This number should lead to more transparency regarding the social security rights of Europeans living and/or working in other Member States.
- 1.The European social security number project is currently blocked. What obstacles stand in its way?
- 2.Would it be possible for the European Labour Authority (ELA) to play a coordinating role and is it planning initiatives in this regard?
- 3.Is the possibility of already starting with a smaller group of Member States that support a European social security number being investigated?
