The possibility of adding Antifa to the EU list of terrorist organisations

The Council is empowered to establish an EU list of terrorist organisations and to impose related restrictive measures under Common Position 2001/931/CFSP and Regulation (EC) No 2580/2001.

Following several attacks by Antifa on political candidates[1] and other opponents[2], the Ministry of the Interior of Baden-Württemberg has warned of more attacks to come against right-wing candidates and sympathisers.

• 1.Why will the Council not consider adding Antifa to the EU list of terrorist organisations?
• 2.What is the Council’s position on the resurgence of left-wing terrorism in Europe, and how does it intend to curb it?
