Gender segregation as regards the safety of staff of the EU institutions based on recommendations of the trade union SID

On 5 March 2021, in recognition of International Women’s Day, the trade union SID (Solidarity, Independence, Democracy) sent an email to all staff of the EU institutions containing thoughtless advice on how to survive a suicide attack in the buildings of the institutions.

In its message, SID intentionally excluded the roughly 40% male members of staff, indicating solely how women could survive an attack.

Given that the email came from an official European Commission account (@ec.europa.eu):

• 1.Does the Commission and those responsible for safety in the institution agree with the recommendations made by the union, including the idea of gender segregation when it comes to the safety of the staff?
• 2.What types of subsidies, aid, privileges, payments, etc. are received by this union and its leaders? Please specify in detail the financial, material or human resources involved.
• 3.SID has an official Commission email address. What criteria were used when allocating that address and why does SID have an official account of an EU institution?
