25.1.2021
Question for written answer E-000417/2021
to the Commission
Rule 138
Kira Marie Peter-Hansen (Verts/ALE)
On 5 August 2020, the Commission confirmed in a written answer that Member States would not violate any provision of EU law if they were to oblige companies in receipt of state relief linked to COVID-19 to publish country-by-country reports (question reference P-003038/2020, answer given by Executive Vice-President Vestager on behalf of the Commission).
Could the Commission confirm that Member States could introduce a similar obligation to publish country-by-country reports for companies of a certain size as a precondition or as part of the evaluation of bidders for public contracts?
Similarly, could Member States introduce an obligation for companies of a certain size to publish a tax policy or strategy as a precondition or as part of the evaluation of bidders for public contracts?
