Question for written answer E-001082/2021
to the Commission
Rule 138
Sara Cerdas (S&D)
The Commission communication ‘A stronger and renewed strategic partnership with the EU's outermost regions’ (COM(2017) 623 final) considers biodiversity in the outermost regions ‘a unique heritage’ for Europe and the world and recognises that many of these regions’ economic sectors depend directly on it. In this connection:
- 1.What specific support for biodiversity conservation does the Commission intend to develop?
- 2.What mechanisms does the Commission intend to develop to ensure that species and ecosystems are conserved in the face of climate change, including in Unesco World Natural Heritage areas?
- 3.How is the Commission monitoring the outermost regions’ approach to biodiversity?
