MINORITIES IN AQUACULTURE

We believe that by educating and equipping underrepresented individuals with the skills and knowledge needed for careers in aquaculture, we can build a stronger, innovative, and sustainable industry.

ABOUT MIA

At Minorities in Aquaculture, we are transforming the industry by developing a skilled and resilient workforce. We create career pathways for women of color, ensuring they have the expertise and opportunities to thrive in this critical and growing sector.

Aquaculture plays a vital role in addressing environmental challenges, such as restoring keystone species like oysters, while also meeting global food security needs. To maximize its impact, the industry requires a well-prepared and diverse workforce that reflects the communities it serves.

Our mission is to provide women of color with the technical training, professional development, and industry connections necessary to launch and sustain meaningful careers in aquaculture. Through mentorship, workforce training programs, and hands-on experience, we are strengthening the talent pipeline and driving innovation in the field.
