Nashville Symphony, Opera and others receive arts funding from American Rescue Plan

The Nashville Symphony, Nashville Opera, and “Girls Write Nashville” are among nine Tennessee arts organizations to receive money from the American Rescue Plan.

The National Endowment for the Arts recommended grants for more than 500 arts organizations across the country to help them recover from the pandemic. The funding can go towards salaries, health and safety supplies or marketing efforts to encourage attendance.

In total, $1 million was granted to Tennessee organizations.

The symphony was granted $150,000, which it plans to use to pay the salaries of musicians. The opera was granted $100,000, and Girls Write got $50,000.

Other grantees across the state include Stove Works, Griot Collective of West Tennessee, International Storytelling Association, Blues City Cultural Center, Soulsville, and the Highlander Research and Education Center.
