National recovery plans and the Commission’s assessment

The Member States are required to submit their completed National Recovery and Resilience Plans (NRRPs) to the Commission by the end of April 2021. These plans aim to bring about a post-pandemic economic and social recovery and to enable investments focused on green and digital development.

As part of the NextGenerationEU instrument, the NRRP is widely seen in Poland as a potentially positive stimulus for the country’s economic and social development; it has also become a topic in the political debate. A large part of the democratic opposition fears that the NRRP and the resources associated with it will not be distributed fairly and may become a financial and political weapon in the hands of the current government.
