Impact assessment following a statement by Vice-President Timmermans

Question for written answer E-001047/2021
to the Commission
Rule 138
Markus Buchheit (ID)
In an interview with European media (including ‘Die Presse’, 18 September 2020), First Vice-President Timmermans expressed his conviction that the ‘old’ fossil-fuel economy is ‘disappearing’ in the EU. As the responsible authority, the Commission has surely calculated the costs and implications of this ‘disappearance’.
How high are the resulting welfare and job losses likely to be per industry, per Member State and for the EU as a whole?
Will the Commission do anything to safeguard these ‘old’ industries and jobs?
