Instances of violation of Greek air space by Turkish military aircraft

Question for written answer  E-006685/2020
to the Commission
Rule 138
Jean-Paul Garraud (ID)

During the meeting on 1 December 2020 of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, the Executive Director of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex), Fabrice Leggeri, told members about incursions by Turkish F-16 military planes into Greek air space.

After the violations of Greek and Cypriot maritime waters, these acts of military harassment, intended to intimidate and slow down operations by Frontex and the Member States, are now apparently occurring on a daily basis.

Can the Commission provide further information on these incursions by Turkish military planes into Greek, and hence EU, air space, detailing in particular their frequency, dates and situation and the measures taken as a result to protect the external borders of the EU’s area of free movement?
