Rule 138
Nuno Melo (PPE)
Approximately EUR 4.8 million were spent on the construction of a water treatment plant in Mondim de Basto.
Despite its inauguration in 2008, the water treatment plant, which was intended to collect, process, store and distribute water from the River Tâmega in the municipality of Mondim de Basto, has never been operational and is abandoned and in a state of degradation, resulting in the inexplicable waste of millions of euros paid by European taxpayers.
- 1.Has the Commission received any information from local or national authorities regarding this situation?
- 2.Has the Commission launched an investigation or initiated proceedings, which would be more than justified, in view of the absurdity of the situation described above?
- 3.Does it not consider it necessary for the objectives of the project to be attained, given that the project received European funding, lest it be considered a misuse of European funds?
