Answer given by Ms Gabriel on behalf of the European Commission

The European Commission will support Member States’ efforts to improve cancer prevention and care through the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan[1] and the proposed Horizon Europe Cancer Mission[2]. These initiatives will be complementary: the Cancer Mission will stimulate cancer research and innovation, whereas the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan will complement national cancer plans with EU policy initiatives.

Both initiatives foresee studies to understand the relationship between the environment and health as well as research into social health determinants, such as living and working conditions, gender and socioeconomic equity to improve cancer prevention.
