Fraudulent labelling regarding the origin of Moroccan fruit and vegetable products
23.11.2020
Question for written answer E-006366/2020
to the Commission
Rule 138
Clara Aguilera (S&D)
In the last few months, agricultural organisations in Almería and Granada have reported that Moroccan fruit and vegetable products have been found that are labelled as a ‘product of Spain’. Only 4% of imports from Morocco enter the EU through Spain.
- 1.Is the Commission aware that these imported products, especially tomatoes, are being fraudulently labelled to obscure their true origin?
- 2.Can it confirm that the quotas laid down in the EU-Morocco Agreement are being met?
- 3.Can it guarantee that the Member States through which these products enter the Union carry out checks in a similar way? Or do they differ according to the port of entry into the EU?
